    Yes, Michel has the correct answer, as is often the case. Russell caught Bird’s wrath when he released the famous Lover Man set. Thank goodness, right? It’s such a wrenching, raw performance.
    I know there was a lot of controversy about Bird Lives because some people had problems with Russell’s accuracy, but I still find it to be a quite compelling book and pretty well written compared to many other jazz bios.
