On Ebay: Hope, Dex, Jackie & True Blue

Let’s take a break from all this Nautiluso stuff and get back to our real business of watching real records on eBay. Here’s a few that will whet your appetite:

Elmo Hope, Informal Jazz, Prestige 7043. This is quite a nice rare record featuring John Coltrane and Hank Mobley, later issued as Two Tenors. This is an original New York pressing. The record is in M- condition and the cover is listed as VG++. The current price is nearly $400, but it hasn’t reached the seller’s reserve yet. The seller has a few other nice items as well, including: Jackie McLean, A Long Drink of the Blues, New Jazz 8250. This one is listed as M- for both the record and the cover and is currently at about $115 — also still short of the seller’s reserve price. The same seller also has a copy of:

Tina Brooks, True Blue, Blue Note 4040. This one is already priced at $2,000 and it has surpassed the reserve price.

Here’s another one we expect to join the $1,000 bin: Dexter Gordon, Dexter Blows Hot and Cool, Dootone 207. This is an original pressing with the red vinyl and the seller has it listed in M- condition. It is currently at $575 with several days to go.

  • I’ve been looking for this Informal Jazz for a while. Always outbidded, of course…We can expect this one around 1000 $.

  • This Blue Nipper seller has really the right records : the ones that you really wanton your shelves…He was a wise buyer, now he deserves is success…

  • New record added on my site !

  • I bought a few records from Blue Nipper and the records were amazingly in M- condition: i.e. Jackie Mclean Ad Lib AD 6601 + Sonny Clark : Cool Struttin.
I’m assuming that the bidders for Elmo Hope and Tina Brooks wont be disappointed

  • Well, well i was wrong…this record did not found the reserve price at….around 400 ? well, this a crazy market….Many records from this seller did not sell… this is a crazy market…ask Nautiluso, he will tell you…

  • I think Nautiluso is helping to make the market even crazier. As you say, Michel, it helps to know the seller. Perhaps you should contact Blue Nipper for that copy of Informal Jazz, no?
