Sadly, the sharpie was invented too late, and it’s tough to autograph on those high gloss cover slicks with ball points or fountain pens, so most that have been signed on the cover with a sharpie were probably signed late in the artists careers. I have a few early autographs done on the covers with ball point, but they havent held up too well sadly. One of my favorite autographed LP’s will always be the original first pressing copy of Time Out Dave Brubeck signed for me… He didn’t think the autograph on the cover would take, so he signed it a second time on the back for me too ! Dave was great that way…
