Aside from the Parker LP, I also noticed the seller "owslafa" on eBay who apparently is going to sell off the collection of a local Jazz enthusiast and he offers quite a few Parker Dial 78s as we speak.
-
From what I've always learned is that the Dial sessions were never recorded on tape but directly onto lacquers which then served as the 'positives' to make the stampers from.
-
If I then put one and one together, I would have to assume that the 78s offer the best sound quality of these recordings ever, as those are 1 on 1 copies of the actual stampers. Right?

Off the top of my head, I seem to recall that DIAL DLP#1 was the very first LP issue (available for a brief moment by mail order exclusively, very limited run, plain cover, no art work). That would make this one the second issue, with reassigned number DIAL # 901, red translucent vinyl and still no art cover, no idea whether this one was mail order only as well or had any commercial distribution… If I remeberb correctly subsequent and still fairly rare releases were on either black or red vinyl with different art covers.
