A Blue Note Monday
Here’s some nice jazz vinyl we’re watching on eBay now, starting with: Lee Morgan, Candy, Blue Note 1590. This is an original pressing listed in VG+ condition for both the record and the cover. It is a relatively new listing, with more than six days to go, but the price is already in the $800 range with 16 bids as of this writing. Has the makings of a bidding frenzy, perhaps.
Charlie Rouse, Bossa Nova Bacchanal, Blue Note 4119. How often do you get to write the word “bacchanal?” This one is in M- condition for the record and VG++ for the cover. It is an original pressing and there are four days left on the auction. Bidding is in the $190 range.
Hank Mobley, Workout, Blue Note 4080. This is an original New York USA pressing listed in Ex condition for the record and VG++ for the cover. The auction closes later today and the bidding is in the $350 range.
Cannonball Adderley, Somethin’ Else, Blue Note 1595. This looks to be an original pressing listed in Ex condition. The start price on this is about $400 and there are no bidders with just a day left in the auction. The cover looks a little strange, if you check out the colors on the front. Wonder if the seller did some retouching? He also mentions minor surface noise in quiet parts.
Such great gems that would fit perfectly in my stocking this Christmas. So far, Santa always left it at new cologne or a good bottle of single malt… 😉
Mattyman – I’d take either of those! My poor lady has tried thrice to get me records and always comes close but let’s just say I have several “audiophile” reissues.
Well, I’ve decided a while ago to not put the Mrs through the hassle of sniping on eBay: explaining to her how it works would take all the fun out of it for her (and me). She did get me a handful of great Blue Notes once though, without my help. All reissues, but hey, it was nice: the thought counts.

Merry Christmas to everyone 😉
