A Couple More For the $1,000 Bin
Here are a couple for the $1,000 bin in the Jazz Collector Price Guide:
Lee Morgan, City Lights, Blue Note 1575. This was an interesting one. The seller had it on last week with a reserve and didn’t sell it despite a bid of more than $400. He put it back this week, the bidding accelerated way past the $400 mark and the record wound up selling for a buy-it-now price of $1,200 before the auction closed. The seller must be pretty happy he put a reserve price on this record the first time around. The vinyl was listed as M- and the cover seemed to be VG+.
Bent Axen-Bent Jaedig, Let’s Keep the Message, Debut 133. This was the original Danish
pressing and his seems to be quite a rare LP. The vinyl was listed in M- condition and the cover was VG+. The price was $1,136.30.
…Just a word of caution for anyone out there bidding on those rocktown101 auctions (ie: The Bent Axen-Bent Jaedig, Let’s Keep The Message, Debut 133 LP), make sure you get a tracking number !!! Reason being, I got a great deal awhile back on an original pressing of Freddie Hubbard’s Hub-Tones LP from this seller and it never showed up. I honestly suspect it was never sent in the first place as the seller could not produce any form of documentation from the post office, which any reputable seller knows they should keep for just such an occurrence instead of tossing it out ! They didn’t seem to mind sitting on my money for 45 days, and were very quick to refund the money including shipping without question once I opened a case. This could be considered great customer service in some instances, but I honestly would rather have had the LP and would have gladly paid double for it ! Based on our past correspondence, it all seems just a little too suspect. Personally, I think he got a better offer on the side for this one and saw a way to weasel out of the deal. Like most of us, I’ve ordered a ton of LP’s over the years and this is the first time I ever had a problem with one not showing up… Anyone else have a similar issue with this seller ?
not with this seller but bookwood2008 from Germany pulled the same thing on a 1499 dollar record.. I guess its a cheap way to get an interest free loan.
Also screamharley from California did the same thing on a copy of Open Sesame which he had the gall to relist at a latter date for a higher price.
