Indeed Maarten! I have a very nice EP by the Diamond Five (Jordu-Amsterdam Blues – Bohemia After Dark), which is superb hard bop. Do you have any Dutch jazz for trade? I’m looking for Jazz At The Kurhaus, original Jazz Behind The Dikes albums, Jacobs Brothers in Jazz LP and some EP’s.

daimond five_brilliant !! greatttt stuff.. john engels, the greatest dutch drummer ever.. altough he once stated:” the period of the diamond five was my most slopy-est period”… they played for 100 Guldens (50$) a week, he was eating peanutbutter sandwiches for a year!! still alive and going strong!
NEVER ever seen a copy of their original vinyl in Amsterdam stores…

I agree with Lander. Saxophone Colossus just has the same tired old “boys club” found on all the other Prestiges.
There are no married couples, like in the best jazz record-“The Gellers” on Emarcy.
And there’s no cello either—like in the Harry Babbison Quartet which I would put on par with Kind of Blue.
If a jazz record has no married couple like the Gellers, the Coltranes or Cecil and Dee Dee Bridgewater, and no jazz cello, why make it at all?
