Hi Rudolf: the Bethlehem book was published around 2000. I picked it up along with the Blue Note (second issue), Prestige and Riverside guides around that time from Dusty Groove. All four are invaluable resources. But I have always wondered what info is contained in the write-ups.

Doug: that is interesting. I got my 3 guides through a German supplier some 10 yeras ago. Was not aware of the Bethlehem one. When was this one published?
It appears there is a second issue of the Blue Note guide, the first issue of which dates from 1987.
The problem with these guides is that the text contributions are all in Japanese. But in terms of sleeves, recorded titles and recording dates they are of great value.
I prefer them to the Ruppli discograpies, even if the latter are more professional.

There is a Jazz Critique guide book for Bethlehem as well.

Al: interesting info, I’ll make a note of that in my “the Prestige Book” (Discography of all series), Jazz Critique 1996 No. 3.
This guide was issued in Tokyo and is very useful. The same exists for Blue Note and Riverside records.

My 7141 is a New York address on the label and no address on the cover. My assumption is 7141, Lockjaw Davis Cookbook, is the last one with the NY address on the label.

I continue my research:
7139: I have a N.J. copy with N.J. adress on back and label
7140: 1st issue. NYC adress on back and on labels
7141: I sold my 2nd issue, N.J.
7142: 1st issue. N.J. adress on back and labels.
We may assume that the last NYC version was either 7140 (Dorothy Ashby) or 7141 (E.L. Davis).
With Soultrane – PrLp 7142 started the Bergenfield era.

I checked the absence of an adress on the back of Prestige covers:
7133: no adress; NYC on label
7134: no adress; NYC on label
7135: ditto
7136: NYC adress on back cover and labels.
7137: NYC adress on back cover and labels
7138: no adress; NYC on label
So the transitioning theory is not necessarily right, but there may be a link with the forthcoming transfer of the company’s seat. We will never know.
