I seem to remember the same thing. Am not quite sure about Hipp, whether it was the one recorded in Germany with Joki Freund - 5056 or the one with Zoot on 12" BLP 1530.
I think I saw the Mobley even go for $ 5200! There is some logic in it, since this one was never re-issued on 12", except on Mosaic, but that, of course, is another kettle of fish.

I remember two Blue Notes that crossed the 4000 fence :

One was a Jutta Hipp with Zoot Sims from Jazz5060 which sold for around 5500. Another was a MObley 5066 from Euclidrecords that went for 4200 or 4400.

We don't have a formal ranking, but what you can do -- which I find to be a lot of fun -- is go to the Jazz Collector Price Guide and click where it says View The Complete List Price Guide and then do a sort based on highest prices first. This will give you all of the 4,000 records we have in our Price Guide ranked from highest priced to lowest price. If you do that, you'll see that the highest price we have is a copy of Sonny Clark's Cool Struttin' that sold for $3,750. I'm sure that's not the highest price we've seen on eBay, but we did take a couple of years off and we also don't obsessively track everything. It's a fun way to look at the market and see which records keep popping up in the high-end price categories.
