To make things a bit more clear, I have uploaded both covers to my Picasa page. If you want to see both cover versions of Whims of Chambers, then click HERE (make sure you watch in slide show mode). A true 1st pressing has the deep groove, Lex Ave address, RVG + ear hand etched in trail off, flat edge, blank spine, framed cover and is non laminated. I wouldn't know if the second cover with all personnel on it in fact is laminated, but a true 1st pressing surely ain't ;-)

Indeed the 1st pressing of Paul Chambers’ “Whims of Chambers” album should have only this on the cover: “Whims of Chambers / Paul Chambers Sextet / Blue Note 1534”. From what I know, the copy that has the full line up of personnel on the front is a later edition and not a 1st pressing. I have Whims of Chambers, but only the record. I bought it for cheap without the cover. The vinyl, thankheavens, contains all the necessary details to confirm it as a first. If someone has a cover left, I’m willing to buy it for cheap 😉

I think that the Paul Chambers cover album was a later edition with lamination. Larry Cohn once told me this edition exists.

Take a look at the Paul Chambers album cover on Popsike. An expensive one doesn’t have the names of the musicians on the front side.

Anyone who gives such disregard for an image and description will NERVER get a dime from me. Maybe he should just scan one letter from a given cover,awarding bonus “credits” to the top bidder who can figure out what he’s “won”? Aaron,thanks for the informative link-although I must admit,there was NEVER a question in my mind. “Let the buyer beware..”

Now this sunsetstripvinyl guy has Cool Struttin’ and BLP 1568 again up for sale, this time he has cropped the images from Popsike even more. I wonder how many fake listings he can come up with. I wonder how many copies of these records he think people will actually believe that he has. I wonder why none of the holy grails from February or June has any feedback left on his site. I wonder if this is the biggest scam in eBay history. Or, does he really have these records and have they reached the respective winners… why isn’t he receiving negative feedback? Why isn’t there any feedback at all for these records he’s selling. I recently bought a coppy of Clifford Brown on blue note 1526.
West 61st cover, Lexington labels deep groove and ear but not a flat edge.So my copy seem to be a later non flat edge pressing using old stock of Lexington labels. Could be the same with the Paul Chambers LP.
But you are right I am only guessing that it is not a flat edge.
