zarabeth, it was discussed in one of the recent threads that 1568 is believed to have been pressed in only one run and both may be the original. This is a very debatable topic. I come down on the side that they are both original as I’ve seen to much evidence that shows it was all one run.

!!! I was referring to the JUTTA HIPP (1530) lp just for the record but I started a DIZZY thing! Yeah the DIZZY records are great. A good place to be w/ a chunk of cash. Not a JUTTA HIPP though. Can’t listen to it.
So if NEW YORK 23 is the original (on 1568) why would anyone pay so much for the non-orig?

Well, Mike, I obtained the connoisseur CD of Blues In Trinity as a used copy by using the “these sellers” option at Amazon, but believe it or not: when the disc finally arrived it was in absolute pristine, unused and unplayed condition. The only thing was that it had this weird promo sticker on it. Apart from that it was in top notch shape. And I paid 11 bucks for it! 🙂

The Japanese CD pressing that I have of Star Bright is most certainly in stereo. It should be available in stereo on vinyl as well. Anyway, CDUniverse has all six tracks as short snippets -in stereo- online and you can listen to them HERE ;-)

Was Star Bright ever issued by Blue Note/Liberty/UA in stereo? Every copy I have ever seen was mono and Like you say, even the UA pressing is mono.

I have the UA mono press of Star Bright, which I bought for maybe $15-20 years ago. Great record but seeing as how this original went for almost $3K… (unheard of high for that one, no?)

I think that’s the route I’m gonna go to grab it. I already have Star Bright and Sounding Off, both of which I enjoy. The connoisseur is like $17 on Amazon which is more than I’d like to pay but will probably grab it soon.
Another Dizzy Reece album I like is Asia Minor. Usually you can find an original for a good price relative to other New Jazz releases.

I like the Dizzy Reece album as well. It has not only been released in the Mosaic box, but also as part of the Blue Note "Connoisseur" editions. You can see the front of my copy in this photo, together with two other Dizzy Reece albums ;-)

The Dizzy Reece is fine record musically IMHO.
It has been out on CD in the Mosaic Select box.

zarabeth, it has two iterations that are commonly belived to be from the same run. New York 23 on one side and 47 West 63rd on both sides.
