Jan,I feel your pain! It’s nice to get a pretty penny for vinyl I’ve had for years(actually,a LOT of pennies),but you nailed the reality of it all. When I try to buy that same/similar lp down the road,I can expect it’ll cost a lot more-thanks,in part,to what my copy sold for. As William S.-no doubt a jazz collector-once said,”there’s the rub.”

The prices of some of the records are amazing. Back in 1998 on eBay I bought a first pressing Saxophone Colossus that is VG on side one excellent on side two with a VG+ cover for $35. Does anybody else have any steals that you bought on eBay?

Everybody here seems to be happy about the increasing prices but for me these prices mean that I will never be able to afford at least some of these great records in near mint condition. So what am I to do ? Stop collecting ? Buy the vg ones for hundreds of Dollars ? Buy reissues ?

…I am extremely impressed to see some of my favorites going up in value, but you have to wonder about who is spending that kind of cash on LP’s these days. That must be one hell of a collection to say the least !
