Sometimes, that increase will occur with 45 minutes left to go; other times in the last 6 seconds.

Something like Moore’s law, only more debilitating.

Looking for a logic behind this ebay rule I think they try to protect buyers who already placed a bid (remember that a maximum bid on the auction could theoretically be higher than “buy-now” price!)…
