I gotcha, Ceedee. Let's hope that in the nearby future it won't take a listening session to hear these gems, but that the music will simply be available to the public. It's absolutely lovely to check out the Savory page of the National Jazz Museum in Harlem, 'cause you don't want to miss this fantastic video plus a great amount of audio snippets! Let's hope this 'orphan works' b.s. finds a solution first. Material that has been rotting away for almost 80 years should be immediately taken out of the whole copyright thing and released publicly before it is lost forever.

Matty,thanks for the very informative link. The whole “orphan works” topic is incredibly complicated. I missed the listening sessions the SMH held some months back-hopefully,that wasn’t my last shot!

Some great Blue Notes, painful boat story ;-) On another note, dear Jazz aficionados, did you all read this horrible story about the <a href="William Savory Collection">William Savory Collection, recently acquired by the National Jazz Museum in Harlem? Thanks to pre-historic US copyright laws we might as well forget about it. Read the story, there's some amazing stuff to read there, especially about the artists that Savory recorded. Unique stuff, sad to read an article like that. :-(
