I just wondered if anyone saw the auction for the Doug Watkins Transition LP? It went for US$3161.00

Yes, this one is rare. It has been seen already on Ebay a long time ago. I remember at this time i had a brief mail exchange with Fred Cohen (he was not the seller, but i remembered an interview of him saying he had never seen it – so i sent him the link). If i remember correctly the “Haryou act” sold for around 400 – 600 $. In other words, in spite of its “rarest jazz record ever” status, it does not seem to be as sexy as Mobley’s or Clark’s Blue Note. Let’s see what happens with this one, but i think the starting price is already too high. Who knows anyway…

Interesting that the Dorham seller would go with the incorrect spelling in the listing title but then spell it correctly (while misspelling “insanly”) in the description. People crack me up.

Material was issued on Xanadu Vinyl in 1985 (# 205 Bebop Revisited Volume Five) and then reissued on compact disc.
