It's true that for those who start collecting only in this millenium, prices of original Blue Note's are too high (especially 1500 serie )..
But for me a second pressing is ok too. It is often from the original decade..

For me even the liberty pressings are ok, unless i see an original bargain... you still have the cover in allmost the same appearence and often even the rvg stamp, and then it is possible for me to try and collect allmost of them (1500-4350)...

Hey guys, I just made a bid on Dexter Gordon on Dootone. It was the highest bid I ever made on ebay because I really wanted this record but I did not meet the sellers reserve. I hope that the millionaire that will be the lucky winner in the end will enjoy the music as much as I would have. I think that Pablo is right. Buylding up an LP collection is becoming impossible and the prices really are insane.

Blue Notes and Prestiges continue to be, simply, out of reach for us working folks on a limited budget. Would I like to have in my collection an original copy of Lee Morgan's Candy?. Absolutely! But reality dictates differently. So, I settled for a copy of the newly remastered RVG edition. What I truly enjoy is the wonderful music contained in the grooves; the recording format? - well I only choose vinyl on those items that I can afford; otherwise, I'll go with the CD.

Best Regards.
