I always thought of Stein/Fitzgerald as a NY or New England tinted group, nothing related to the Bay area, but I may be wrong. Original Progressive was an East Coast lzbel.

Greg the Fish,
Now that you brought up Flute playing,
Went back to the collection and found “Flute Flight” Prestige 7124. (Beautiful 1st pressing with wax sleeve and all..) I too am lukewarm to flute but I really like this outing of Herbie Mann and Bobby Jasper, especially the track “Flute Bob”
Anyone else out there that takes a liking to this LP ?

i love new jazz. the purple label is very pleasing to the eye. flute, however, i am lukewarm on, unless it’s dolphy.

Hal Stein is on that “Four Altos” LP with Shihab, Woods and Gene Quill. Good record. I don’t have the Progressive but would like to!

The Parlan is a NY USA pressing with no deep grooves, though the seller doesn’t specifically call it an “original.” I’d be a little concerned about his grading, as the covers are pretty worn for being “EX” or “EX+” – maybe a VG+ at most.
