where is the misprint variation on this Blue Note 1538? what is the missing R issue. Thanks I have a copy I my collection for 20 yrs and just playing the record mw 2018. I wanted to sell but saw the different prices.

Anyone willing to spend that kind of bread for an lp featuring a still-undeveloped Lee Morgan,an inconsequential sax player and mediocre compositions is welcome to it. For me,a “holy grail”only deserves the title when the music measures up to the hype of it’s scarcity. Nice cover,though(the only reason I pull out my UA version from time to time).

Me thinks too many dollars chasing too few top grade copies of the holy grail titles. These prices are pulling up the prices for the early 2nd pressings now. But I wonder if this is a real step change in values, or just a bubble.

Ah Lee Morgan indeed… I find this session a little clumsy…
Being a lucky owner of this Lexington rarity (My copy is on the VG++ side, cover and record) i Will give it a spin…
But at 7700 $, i’d rather buy me a Gibson ES 335 in blond finish…

The other one i had kept an eye on, was a second pressing of Sonny Clark Cool Struttin’. I wonder if the JC readership would be happy paying US$1130.00 for a second pressing. I saw a nice NJ copy of Saxophone Colossus go for a similar price recently too. Here is the link to the Sonny Clark auction:
