Nobbyknucks - thanks for shipping so fast! I wasn't sure if my flight was going to get me into New York with enough time to visit Travis, but it did. In retrospect, I should have reached out to you as soon as I won the auction to see if you were available for in person delivery. In any event, really looking forward to receiving the Thad Jones and to see what you find next! Thanks again and feel free to contact me directly in the future - Travis has my info.

Jim. What was so sad is that I coulda handed this to you in person through a mutual friend if I wasn't so lightning fast with my shipping haha.

Al. Yes I graded VERY conservatively. I could've commanded higher prices on some but I would rather lose a couple hundred here and there then have someone be displeased. I've always been that way with selling.

As far as how I found the collection. I've been buying and selling records for a long time now. I've had my fair share of large nice jazz collections but mostly later pressing Blue Notes mixed in with heavy spiritual jazz, eastbound label stuff and later Prestiges. Usually in not so great shape obviously.

I received a call from a woman telling me she had her deceased fathers collection. She said she was gonna throw em out!!!!! The other funny thing is she called a shop before me and they refused to make a house call. Suckers. I wasn't too enthusiastic. She told me it was Jazz like Sarah Vaughan and Dinah Washington. But also told me it was 15 boxes. I didn't get my hopes up because I do this for a living and it never goes as you dream it will. I got there and 3rd LP was Thad Jones. Checked the condition. Amazing. A few LPs later 3 Miles LPs. Gorgeous. I got to the point I wasn't even checking condition because this was one time I was sure about it. I paid really fair for the collection. She was more than happy.

Like I said she thinks there's more but she hasn't called me yet so not getting too excited.

I won the Thad Jones and was pleased with the final number. I haven't seen this one up for sale very often, especially with a flat edge. Looking forward to my first spin, which is always (for me) the true test of whether an LP stays in the collection or moves on to another home.
