I’ve never heard the Gonsalves. Is it worth tracking down in some form? I’ve seen it go for big bucks many times, usually records that are in the $1000 bin are both rare AND good(as demonstrated by all the other records Al listed above which I think are both rare and good).

So,London-which applies here? Is the Gonsalves,in your opinion,as good as I’ve heard..or just rare? These days I see that the Japanese reissue goes for big bucks,too-assumedly a limited edition pressing.

The Gonsalves Boom-Chick pressing run was apparently no more than 500, putting it in the same rarity league as Mobley 1568, which sells for two to three times. Being rare is not the same as being good. They get conflated.

I have the Japanese reissue of the Gonsalves – it’s an incredible record. Really, really great. Surprised to see that the Brooks went so high considering the back cover damage, but I suppose it’s the front cover and the vinyl condition that are most important.
