More Updates: A $1,600 Cannon, Rare Ornette
Someone had mentioned this record joining the $1,000 bin: Cannonball Adderley, Something Else, Blue Note 1595. It’s a great record, but we’ve tracked it many times in the Jazz Collector Price Guide and it had never passed $500 before. This one was in near mint condition for both the record and the vinyl and sold for $1,624.99. Wow.
Here’s a record I’ve never seen before: Ornette Coleman at Town Hall 1962, ESP 1006. I have a copy of this record with a different cover. This one has a silk screen cover with handwritten labels. It is also a review copy. The record was listed in M- condition and the cover looked like a VG++. The price was $987.

Somethink i do not not dig from that Cannonball Adderley album seller : he often uses pictures from other seller’s auctions (of equivalent item). Look closely at hs listings and you ‘ll see emany different kind of pictures…
On a similar note, I have a copy of Sidney Bechet’s Black Stick on Dial (301) that I commented on, on a different thread. That thread shows one album cover and I have different one. I also have Dial (302) with same image Red background. (301) has black background. I was hoping someone would be able to tell me if one is more rare than the other. Meaning the one posted or mine.
…Cannonball Adderley’s Something Else is finally getting it’s due ! What a great LP, and one certainly deserving of being in the +$1,000 bin.
For anyone in the collective who may be interested, check out this link to a website totally dedicated to Cannonball Adderley. More specifically, it documents all the known label / cover / format variations of ‘Something Else’ ever released complete with photos !

As for this recent sale… It may be worth keeping a watchful eye on this sellers feedback in the weeks / months ahead. Their recent bevy of high grade LP auctions, re-used photos and above market selling prices seem to fit the profile of another recent nefarious character that shall remain nameless…
Don Lucky : I don’t think the guy is dishonnest on the real availability of the item. But what is not really honest is to show another seller’s record and descriptions. If he pretend to get the highest prices for his item he should not be so lazy.
…You are preachin’ to the choir man ! I completely agree with you Michel. Especially if I were planning on spending that kind of money for an LP, I certainly would expect a great selection of original photographs and a detailed description to seal the deal.
