Thanks! I didn’t even notice that the picture above on this blog was a 12″. Either way I think I like that cover best. Seems to go for about the same money as the 10″.

the 10″ came before the 12″. The 12″ cover shown is the first version. Later issues, before Liberty, have an alternate cover using the pictures from the 10″ sleeve design.

So the cover in the picture is an alternate and this (http://www.ebay.com/itm/ART-BLAKEY-QUINTET-Original-1954-BLUE-NOTE-10-LP-5037-SUPERB-/390596287559?pt=Music_on_Vinyl&hash=item5af15a5c47) is the original? I’ve always wondered which came first. I have the later reissue on Liberty if I remember correctly.

you are fully right, although one cannot always playgrade all the records one puts up for sale, better be prudent than taking risks with unsatisfied (irascible) buyers.
btw, this BLP 1522 is my very first 12″ album bought in 1957 I guess.
