The seller must've realized at one point that even torched hard bop originals sell for decent prices online. I remember when I worked in a record store I'd put out G- Blue Notes for a buck a piece and they were snapped up. Dudes (mostly dudes) just didn't care. If they're obliterated, why sell them for more than a couple bucks?

i was going to say everything mattyman already said. haha.

also, carolinasoul drives me crazy. never bought from them, and no bad blood or anything personal, but they tend to list TONS of records in VG- or worse condition, which as a seller they should know are pretty unenjoyable to listen to. when sellers list tons of VG- copies of easy-to-find records, i am suspicious.

but what else are they to do, i suppose. perhaps my problem is not with the seller, but with the fact that i salivate at some potential great deals, only to read the listing and see it is not in good condition. haha.

there, self-examination and closure all in the process of typing a comment.

i'm weird today, sorry.

I didn't bid on Madame Mono's record since I thought the description was suspect. The vinyl is graded as e/e+, but the text says that there are occasional needle digs that cause occasional tics. For me e/e+ records don't have needle digs.

"GST Says: I’m amazed at the ups and downs of an album like Lee Morgan’s The Sidewinder. Recently there have been a few non deep groove copies going for almost $300. Perhaps people don’t care about deep groove as much as they used to when identify a true first pressing?"

I've always been under the impression that The Sidewinder, being a 1964 release, would NOT have been pressed with Deep Groove. Any copy of this LP with DG on one or both sides is likely to be a later pressing. First pressings for post-1960 releases = no Deep Groove.

I might be wrong though! :)
