Yes, Michel, it was Doin’ Allright, Blue Note 4077. The musicians were Freddie Hubbard, Horace Parlan, George Tucker and Al Harewood. This album was quickly followed by Dexter Calling, Blue Note 4083, which was recorded on the same trip to New York. As Ira Gitler explains in the liner notes to Doin’ Allright: “All in all, Dexter Gordon’s trip to New York was very fruitful. He renewed old acquaintance, made some new friends, bought a couple of groovy suits at a Broadway clothier and began an association with Blue Note that should prove to be mutually significant.” Indeed.

Right. Doin Allright BLP 4077 Freddie Hubbard on trumpet, Parlan, Tucker Harewood. Dexter Calling was 4083.

I think Jason is right. Doin’ all right was a quintet with Freddie Hubbard, Dexter Calling a quartet with Kenny Drew and Philly Joe. I would bet that the first issued was Doin’ Allright

Both Doin’ Alright and Dexter Calling came out about the same time. But I think Doin’ was his first. Not sure as to who the other musicians were though.
