This Weekend on eBay: A Pastiche of Blue Note

Here is some of the jazz vinyl we’re watching on eBay this weekend:

Hank Mobley, Hank, Blue Note 1568. This one of the rare ones. We’ve monitored a bunch of them on the Jazz Collector Price Guide and they’ve sold for as high as $2,600. This one is listed as VG++ for the vinyl and VG+ for the cover. The starting price for this one is $2,000 and, as of now, with about 20 hours left in the auction, there are no bidders. Will that continue?

The seller roverd-90 has some really nice 10-inch LPs for sale this weekend, including:

The Amazing Bud Powell Volume 2, Blue Note 5041. This is listed in M- condition — pristine is the description — and the seller is reputable and you’re not going to find too many copies of a 55-year-old record in this shape. The current price is about $300. From the same seller is this: Thelonious Monk, Genius of Modern Music, Blue Note 5002. This one is listed as M- for the record and VG++ for the cover. The current price is about $265.

How much is a second-pressing New York USA copy of this worth: John Coltrane, Blue Train, Blue Note 1577? We’ll find out this weekend. This copy is listed at M- for the vinyl and VG++ or M- for the cover. The price is already at $150, so the short answer to the question is this: A lot. How much, we will tell you after the action closes.

  • Has anyone else noticed that “roverd-90” seems to have a great inventory of LP’s for someone who lives all the way out in Thailand ! (I would recognize those familiar bathroom floor tiles in the background anywhere…) It’s amazing how far these LP’s manage to travel over the years, yet still to remain in such pristine condition…

  • …My appoligies to “roverd-90” on that last comment. It was actually directed at “jazz_note05”. (Sorry)
