I just bought the analogue prod. pressing on eBay. If it lives up to my expectations, I’ll be adding the original pressing to my “wanted” list. I love discovering alums I’ve somehow overlooked.

looking at Mobley labels again… DG on side 1 indeed looks like someone tried to press it twice or at least under prototype conditions 🙂

@adamski, do you think someone would try to press DG at home? I believe the risk to damage (break)the record is too high unless someone developed a very sofisticated method …

This is the first time I’ve seen an “Imperial” label in the same category as the Blue Note, Riverside, and Prestige that are so common on the JCollector. Can someone share a bit more about the label, its artists, and its collectability? How is the sound quality?

I’m in no way debating or doubting that the Mobley
is original and authentic..but is it me or is that deep groove on the labels very very deep & very wide?
Just an observation.

I have what looks like a Canadian pressing of the Sonny Criss record. Everything about it looks the same
except the lettering on the front is all red and it says Distributed by London Records of Canada on the back. My question is, could this be as valuable, half?

Arick – the AP reissues are the real deal, cut from the masters by Kevin Gray. There is more info at the Acoustic Sounds website.

You can debate the quality of the pressings, but they are not Scorpios or European digital clones (those are what you often see at HPB).

What is a good vinyl reissue of ‘Informal Jazz’ for those of us whom cannot shop in the $1000 bin?

I saw a re-issue by Analogue Prod on amazon… Are they one of those that remove all label names and logos when they get licensing like those Blue Notes they sell at Half-Price Books? How is the Japanese (200g?) reissue?
Any advice would be very appreciated. Thanks.
