There’s a couple of Blue Note test pressings on offer from ebay seller Bluenotesound (Michael Cuscuna’s wife Lisa!). They’re particularly interesting because they’re original pressings of material that didn’t get released until the late 70s. The first is a stereo test press of Horace Parlan’s Happy Frame of Mind from 1963, not issued until 1976 on the Booker Ervin ‘Back from the Gig’ double LP (BN-LA 488-H2), currently with 1 bid at the opening price of $499.99. The second is a Stanley Turrentine session from 1964; the stereo test press is dated 6/13/1966, which I presume is just after the sale to Liberty (what date was that?) as the pressing plant is All Disc rather than Plastylite. This material was first released in 1980: tracks from side 1 on ‘In Memory Of’ (LT1037) & tracks from side 2 on ‘Mr. Natural’ (LT1075). This one is starting at $399.98 with no bids so far.
