David if you do decide to sell the Newk, I've been looking for one and am not as concerned with the first pressing if the price is right. Feel free to email me at sbeeb@uw.edu if you decide to go that route. Good luck with everything. I had to do the same thing a bit ago when i got baby news.

i would probably sell the newk's time for sure, as it is not original, and get both of the other two cleaned professionally (on a VPI that should be just a few dollars) and see how you feel about them then.

sorry to hear about this unfortunate position! hope it all works out well for you.

david j;
My advice would be to sell all three since you do not sound entirely happy with either LP.

I've run into a dilemma and I'm hoping to get some advice from readers. The problem is this: I'm at the record show today and a sell with whom I've dealt for years shows me not one, but three lps from my wish list: Newk's Time, Roll Call and Undercurrent. I negotiated the sale down to a somewhat more reasonable price and walked away very, very happy. When I got home my wife had some news for me unrelated to record shopping and now I'm in a position that need to sell at least two of my three acquisitions. My dilemma is which two? The Undercurrent was my first choice to keep, but it is in the worst condition: only about vg+ with some marks that tick, not louder than the music, but louder than I'd like (I normally never buy less than vg++). It is a first press with dg on side 2 and all the other related attributes. The cover is also about vg+ with some scratches and chips, but no splits, tape or pen. The Roll Call also has all of the attributes of a first press (I follow Cohen's book) and is better than the Undercurrent somewhere between vg+ and vg++. The pressing has more noise (maybe it just needs a good cleaning?), but fewer marks, ticks and pops. The cover is in similar condition to the Undercurrent, but has a small stamp from a previous owner on the back. The Newk's Time is the best of the three having both a vg++ cover and vinyl, but I didn't check carefully enough and there is an R on one side (similar to the copy LJC was discussing most recently). Everything else about it is first press (9M, no Inc. OBC, DG, 63, etc.). I have other good records to sell, but noting on the level of these three with respect to cost. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

I think that is as good as it gets with the cover of that particular album. It looks phenomenal. The LP condition is the more important thing for me. That it is in M- condition, which is very hard to find. But the cover looks fantastic. It's almost 60 years old and very rare.

The seller states the Red Rodney had its edges "touched up" professionally. It does not indicate that it was done by a true restoration company. Could have been the previous owner with some white paint. That would decrease the value in my eyes as far as the cover is concerned...
