Oh,yeah..I’d forgotten about the layout in some of those stores!Those heavy green sleeves that held the vinyl were the rule then,not the exception. I even remember the isolated “listening rooms” where you could play a copy of the record you wanted before purchase. The used shops that provide a turntable for that purpose today are among my favorites-when you can find them.

Aaron I would have to agree with you on this. Most record stores from the the 1950’s had there records in green sleeves. The jacket would be on display you took it to the clerk or owner, they would get the record for you.My friend had a record store he use to advertise to buy records in the 1970’s he had a sealing machine, every record that was near mint that he purchased was sealed!!!

I thought Blue Notes from the 50’s, like 1546, never came sealed.
