I always thought it was too bad that Hank was tagged “the middleweight champion” of the tenor sax, as opposed to the “heavyweight champ,” because his playing was absolutely beautiful, lyrical, but always with that great sense of swing. I keep a CD copy of “Soul Station” in my desk at work for those times when I’ve just gotta have a little bit of Mobley music to keep me going.

Glad to see the e-mails coming again, and the site moving and growing!
