By the way, the photo above was taken the same day that the cover photo for Workin’ With The Miles Davis Quintet Prestige 7166. Miles is wearing the same coat, tie, shirt, gold watch and smoking the same cigarette. Very cool story!

A great story, of course — but for me the real gem is the picture of Miles. Whose is it? It’s perfect — period pick-up reflected in the window, Miles as cool as ****, Prestige’s company name obscured *just* enough to be evident but not obvious and, just discernible, the cover of Miles’ own RELAXIN’ on display in the window.

One of those perfectly composed little pictures that contains a vanished world within its modest 35mm framelines…

Thanks Mattyman. I had pictures made in front of the Prestige building, a typical suburban one-storey structure. The problem is that I don’t find the pictures. Al also asked for them.

Thanks for a fantastic story, Rudolf. Please share some more of these adventures if you can. And it may sound a bit over the top, but knowing that you pulled this off as ‘just another fan from The Netherlands’, makes me proud to be Dutch myself! Last but not least, did you make any photos that day at the warehouse? If so, maybe share a scan or two with us greedy guys! 😉
