I was fortunate enough to purchase five records from Al when he was selling on ebay, and all are terrific. Al, I hope you do sell them on ebay as your prices are always fair and the condition excellent. Rest assured that they have a very happy home here. I wish I had some great local bulk record offers like you run across, but unfortunately in the SF Bay Area the offers that have come my way are poor in quality indeed.....

Al, thanks for your elaborate reply. That is more or less what I expected. But, then, would I have been in the same position of receiving calls to empty a basement or a garage, I would have jumped on the occasion too.
I myself are slimming down at a rate of an average 20 albums per month.

Thank heavens I don't have to count down: I probably have around 2,000 vinyls (mostly 70s funk and, as shown here in several comments, a handful of Jazz records and some lovely Blue Notes) and 2,000 albums are not that hard to keep. I can hardly imagine selling even the worst record I have in my cabinet.

So after Rudolf asked his question, my question is, Al: why do you want to downsize? Is it because you have tons of doubles? Lack of space in your house?

I would like to know, 'cause the give or take 2,000 records that I have, have cost me serious blood, sweat, tears and a lot of money to acquire. 70s funk, too, can be very pricey at times. So the last thing I want to do is to downsize that precious collection.

Last but not least: why not donate the records to a Jazz institute or the Library of Congress? And if you honestly want to get rid of them, then please do it on eBay, and not through the site, 'cause then we can all bid on those gems in bulk! ;-)

The above is based on sincere interest, Al. I don't want to sound mean, but a rookie like me can't imagine selling his "babies" :-)
