I’ve always regretted that I was born after Coltrane’s passing, and I never truly experienced the release of a new Coltrane album (not that tracking down everything the man has already put out wasn’t challenging). But this is pretty unique, and I am absolutely reveling in the excitement of this upcoming release that most fans get to experience at the same time (except those few lucky ones willing to pay $1,000 to attend next week’s listening session at Van Gelder’s studios.)
