Al – you could save yourself the trouble and add the “strikethrough” effect to the organ reference and post an acknowledged correction. best of both worlds!

agree with ADAMSKI, need a right mood for organ on my turntable… however I like Larry Young on Blue Note, heard Into Somethin’ last week and enjoyed it a lot!

some great organ lps featured some fantastic Tenor blowers…Don Wilkerson, Fred Jackson, George Braith
not to mention wonderful guitar work from some giants. Come on don’t give the organ stuff a bag tag..
Gotta say you have to be in the right mood for it to hit you though!

Sorry, sorry, sorry. Wasn’t paying careful enough attention yesterday morning. It was early. If I didn’t have any scruples, I would erase this portion of the post forever. I have the power, but also the integrity. At least for now. Maybe one day I’ll sneak in and remove it and nobody will ever notice.

And for Mr. Clifford, on “South Side Soul” there is a John Wright composition titled ’63rd and Cottage Grove.’ Once a mecca of great Jazz clubs, Crown Propeller Lounge, McKie’s and more, this street no longer has that musical mystique; it’s all gone.

John Wright is a piano player In all the times I heard him while I lived in Chicago he never played organ. His lps on Prestige are quite delectable. Owning two, this one and ‘Makin’Out,” on them he is playing piano.

I should get this record. I recall Burton Greene writing a tune in the not-too-distant past called “63rd and Cottage GROOVE.”

I have a nice original copy of the John Wright album and it’s neat, especially because live in Chicago (the song names all have something to do with Chicago locations). Very cool.

I really like that John Wright album. Very bluesy. I’ve got an original, but was watching that auction as well. There was another one that ended a few hours after that listing that went for ~$130 less:
