I can't believe what that copy of Thelonious Monk on Riverside 242 went for ! I've never seen that one slip past $300-400 before myself, although I am not sure why I am so surprised... It's a great LP.

As for the Christmas albums, I've been collecting original pressings of what I consider the most iconic in the genre for the last two decades, and admittedly it is getting tough to come up with new titles worth searching for. The prices have really shot up, especially on Vince Guaraldi's 'A Charlie Brown Christmas'. The best part is that most original pressings of these seasonal offerings you find on eBay and beyond are more often than not still in NM condition. Probably because of the obvious fact that they only get a few plays a year around the holidays. I have even found many still sealed original pressings of Vince's album over the years in both Mono and Stereo, and still love this one. I would also recommend Duke Pearson's 'Merry Ole Soul', Kenny Burrell's 'Have Yourself a Soulful Little Christmas' and Oscar Petersons 'An Oscar Peterson Christmas'. Additionally, there is no shortage of classic vocal material by Frank, Ella, Mel, Tony and Bing should the spirit move you... Cheers & Merry (belated) Christmas !

Clifford, That Trader/Getz version of Ginza Samba is wonderful AND I never would've come across it if, in my sleepy way, I had not chosen to take a peek at jazzcollector, a site I'd given up on a while back. But here's Al posting about vinyl, here are the comments, and here, once again, is a tip to a track new to me. I'll add it to my radio show (40 years and counting) in the coming weeks.

12/25
Nice to see words on this site as opposed to podcasts(though enjoyable) again.
Seeing auction action recently gives me pause as I think i may have sold all my records too soon. But, it’s only money. And that also is temporary.
Too late for your holiday show I’m sure Al, however one of my Jazz faves for the season that you rarely see in compilations or even played is Herb Geller’s version of ‘Sleigh Ride.’ With Lorraine Geller on piano at less than 3 minutes, it is quite a ride.
One of those great EmArcy lps.

Mulligan's Night Lights also gets into the three figure zone nowadays.

Guaraldi doesn't normally move the needle for me either though I do like his playing on the Tjader/Getz Sextet LP ("Ginza Samba" is a house-rocker).
