The post Today on eBay, January 10, 2009 first appeared on jazzcollector.com.]]> Here’s an interesting one that closed recently. A seller was offering a copy of Lee Morgan Sextet, Blue Note 1541. It looked as if the vinyl was VG+ or VG++ and the cover looked to be VG, with a sticker on the front. It was an original Lexington Avenue pressing. The bidding went to $995 — but the record didn’t sell because it failed to meet the seller’s reserve price. That’s a pretty steep reserve price, albeit for a very rare record. We looked up in the Jazz Collector Price Guide: We’ve had one copy that sold for as much as $1,325 — in much better condition — and the second highest price was $877, also in better condition. Anyway, we’re sure the seller will sell the record so if you’re interested you can click the link and contact him. It’s another quiet day on eBay today — not unusual for a Saturday — but here are a couple of items we’re watching:

Bill Berry, For Duke, RealTime 101. This one is in M-/M- condition and is currently at $70. We’ve seen a sealed copy of this in the Jazz Collector Price Guide at $170. Normally it sells in the low $100s. 

We’re also watching this one: Dexter Gordon, Live at the Amsterdam Paradiso, Catfish 336-337. We actually remember when this LP came out and its a very nice record. Not sure about how collectible it is, which is why we’re watching.

This is all I could come up with: Zoot Sims, The Modern Art of Jazz, Dawn 1102. This is a nice record, although this one has some condition issues. I mentioned recently that some of the nice Verve records can be had for a decent price. Here’s a record with some nice Stan Getz from the late 1950s: Stan Getz, Award Winner, Verve 8296. This has an original trumpeter label and is in M-/VG++ condition. Current price is around $50, which isn’t too bad. Finally, there’s this one, which generally sells in the $100 or so range: Bill Berry, For Duke, RealTime 101. This is a sealed copy. This one had the highest price of all the ones we’re entering: Sonny Clark, Sonny’s Crib, Blue Note 1576. This was an original pressing in VG++/VG+ condition. Price: $1,524.99

Eddie Costa, House of Blue Lights, Dot 3206. This was an original pressing in VG++/VG++ condition. Price: $355

Red Garland at the Prelude, Prestige 7170. This was an original pressing in M-/M- condition. Price: $79. This sold on another auction for $338.70 recently. 

Lou Donaldson, Sonny Side Up, Blue Note 5036. This was an original pressing with the original cover in VG+/VG+ condition. Price: $156.10

Charlie Rouse, Yeah!, Epic 16012. This was in M-/VG++ condition and sold for $416.51.

Jackie McLean, Bluesnik, Blue Note 4067. This was a West 63rd pressing in M-/VG+ condition. Price: $236.06

Sal Salvador Quintet, Blue Note 5035. This was a 10-inch LP in M-/M- condition. Price> $129.62

Jackie McLean, Jackie’s Bag, Blue Note 4051. This was VG++/VG++ and sold for $169.

Charles Mingus, the Complete 1959 CBS Sessions, Mosaic MQ4-143. This was a 4-record boxed set and sold for $133.50

Elmo Hope, Informal Jazz, Prestige 7043. This was an original pressing in M-/VG++ condition. Price: $997.97
