  • Al, to be frank, I never listened to any of your podcasts. This morning I did. I spent a wonderful time. Thanks, well done.
A good opportunity to hear again some of the gems hidden in my own collection.
In hindsight we may conclude that the tenor saxophone players of the fifties generation consisted of a solid, exclusive, triumvirate: Coltrane, Getz, Rollins (in alphabetical order). One tends to forget these days what an extraordinary musician Stan was, even if he did not contribute any compositions by himself.
I had the privilege of hearing each of the three live in concert on a number of occasions.
P.S. I liked your observation on “the way you look tonight”. The Rollins-Monk version vs Stan’s.

  • Thank you so much Rudolf. I really appreciate it. My next show will be on Dexter Gordon. The triumvirate may expand to a quartet. 🙂
